Why as web designers/web developers does it take so long to create our own web sites?

There are 2 answers really to this question. The first is that our clients take precedence over our own web site and second we want it to be just right before showcasing it to the world. Not that we do not want our clients web sites to be just right and perfect, we do! But sometimes time pressures, or even financial constraints can mean that a web site is launched not quite as anticipated.

With our own websites, there is always the tendency to tinker under the hood, sometimes to the nth degree.

Always try and give your own web site a time limit, treat it exactly like you would a client website, from initial brief through to final published web site. By doing this you may avoid the vast web developer tinkering scenario before going live.
